What We Do
The Annual Eagle Scout Recognition Banquet
Each year the SGVC Eagle Scout Association organizes a banquet dinner for all of the Eagle Scouts in the San Gabriel Council who have earned their rank the previous year. This demonstrates to these young men that reaching the rank of Eagle is not the end of their pursuit but only the beginning of living a life as an Eagle Scout. Dinner sponsors are recruited from the local community to attend the banquet with our Scouts. Each new Eagle is matched with a sponsor based upon his career interests. Sponsors often offer a follow-up tour of their place of work.
Belcher Foundation Eagle Scout Scholarship
This award is given to an Eagle Scout or Scouts each year. The Board of Directors of the SGVC Eagle Scout Association has been charged with the pleasure of reviewing all application for this generous scholarship. One or more Eagle Scouts from the San Gabriel Valley Council will receive this prestigious award at the Eagle Scout Banquet. Click here for more information and an application.
Eagle Scout Association Networking Reception
Each year, about three months prior to the recognition banquet, the SGVC Eagle Scout Association organizes a networking reception. All members are invited to get together for some food and drink and to listen to a distinguished speaker. It is a great time to mingle with your fellow Eagles, make new business contacts and discuss life’s issues.
Summer Visits to Council Camps
Each summer tours of the SGVC summer camps are offered to members for a better understanding of these programs. Day trips to Camp Cherry Valley on Catalina Island and Camp Holcomb near Big Bear Lake are planned with Council staff to enjoy the out of doors and a hearty camp lunch.
Eagle Scouts Business to Business
The Eagle Network is a way for members of the SGVC Eagle Scout Association to work with other Eagles Scouts on a business to business level. For years, other nation wide groups such as college alumni associations, Rotary, Lions club, Kiwanis and other fraternities and sororities have successfully used these relationships to facility personal and business connections with other members. We, as Eagle Scouts, have a tradition of holding to the highest standard of ethics. As Eagles, we have higher standards than most other people and groups. We know what it took to get our rank and having this common ground is the best reason to work with a fellow Eagle Scout.
